Course Representatives & Video Format Update

Hi Friends,

Welcome back to UTP!

Our course representatives are:

CV: Jackie
CE: Pei Chie
EE: Gary
ME: Edwin
IT/IS: Isaac

Many thanks to them. What they will do is - get your feedback regarding t-shirt design (once confirmed) and materials, etc. If there's any changes, we will try to accommodate. If all okay with it, then rep will help to collect money and we can start ordering hopefully by end of this week or early on Week 2.

Please extend your cooperation to the reps.

Video Format

As for this, we might not be doing 'here in my home' after all. Since some of you might not be comfortable showing your singing prowess, we could do practically anything now. Just do your own style individually or in groups. For example, we could form groups who wants to sing, or just individual messages, or you want to play songs with guitar... whatever, really. I hope everyone would be more okay with this format. Plus, this is more original anyway.

Meeting 22 July, Tuesday

Today we have a meeting at v5 cafe, 10.30pm among reps to discuss T-shirt and video format. Those who want to give an idea or two please join us too. Will keep you guys posted about updates. Cya~

#kianuland is our chat area since UTP block our beloved chat box in this blog

To-Do List

Okay Boys and Gals, below is a list of things to do when we get back to UTP. Since everyone seems so busy or do not have Internet connection now, we shall do most of our work when we all get back to UTP. But do try to contribute as much as possible now to expedite the planning, yea? Agree?

  1. Confirm T-shirt design. Back of t-shirt blank or with design? Those who want to contribute , please come out with design ASAP. Round neck or collar? - please vote. Other collar shape might make things more complicated but if you insist, please help to find out more info - costing and availability would be best. Quantity - I'll assume those who have said yes would be buying a t-shirt each. Your constant comment and presence in the chatbox would help to give assurance, so please leave a mark whenever you visit this site. Volunteer(s) needed to help manage money collection.
  2. Shooting format. Group/course wise? Form you own group? Or do everything in a day like what Fu Shen have suggested? Still waiting for volunteers or please nominate few person in-charge. Each group need a person-in-charge to make it more managable. Are we still agree on wearing the same t-shirt while shooting? Finding a common time could be difficult but everyone please cooperate if we want to make this happen.. ok?
  3. Location. I guess most will go for various location because it's more interesting. So those person-in-charge of your group please discuss/decide amongst your group members where you want to take video. I think is best not to go into formalities like requesting for permission, because that would waste more time. Just go there and shoot and cabut! How you want to act in front of the camera is also your choice - freestyle, anytime, anywhere. If you want props, eg: cardboard with messages, then do at your own will. One last shooting - where? Record singing (church okay?)
  4. Camera. I have no idea on this. I only got a compact digital camera. Cameras like this should be last resort. Anyone has better camera? Michelle, any leads? Peepz, ideas please.... One that can produce a steady and clear shooting is good enough =P
  5. Confirmation. All still agree to do video? Still agree on 'Here In My Home' ? If yes, then please don't give silent treatment anymore when we get back, OK? Suggestions are welcomed.
  6. Schedule. Week 1 - Persons in charge complete. Groups formed. Secure camera(s). Confirm Tshirt design. Week 2 - Place shirt order & collect money. Leads discuss/decide/identify location and style of shooting with groups. Week 3 - Continue discussion & decide. Do props if you want. Rehearse if you want. Week 4 - Bersemangat to do this while waiting for t-shirt (workload won't dampen our spirit!!!yea?). Week 5 - Execute shooting. All groups to finish by weekend. Week 6 - As expected, sure tak jadi, so give you one more week to shoot! One last group shooting and record singing. Week 7 - Video edit and wait for final outcome.....Expect video to finish when all come back from mid sem break!

Anything left out? Please comment.

Discussion - T-Shirt Design

Hi Friends,

Those who are interested in T-shirt design, you can actually come out with your own design. Then post it up here for viewing. I have my own design, probably need Melvin's skill to complement it. Hopefully it will be done soon.

I hope we can all get our T-shirt when we get back to UTP, so that we have our t-shirt during video shooting. That's why we need to decide on a design soon, and after that proceed to order.

Everyone fine with that? Round neck or collared? Or you have suggestion? Please be involved if you want to make this happen. An opinion or two is every much appreciated.

Thanks.

DESIGN A-WHITE

Hi Friends, this is the design I've come out with. The centerpiece is based on Michelle's recommendation to use 'I Heart Revolution', and the rest of the layout is based on the winning t-shirt design of seattle.net competition summer 2007. Don't worry, it's not the final choice yet & don't worry about the T-shirt template. Just look at the design for now. It is posted here for discussion. I'm aware of some issues especially regarding the centerpiece but please tell me your concerns (or if you like it, tell me anyway). @ T-shirt design team, if you like to improve / modify it, source file is with me. It's in .fla (flash - CS3) format. Or if you want in other format, I'll try to export it to you too. BTW, don't worry about the water mark aka grey words, it will not be there for printing.

Thanks.

OK FRIENDS NEW VERSIONS BELOW!
though I'm really sad to see our names gone (sob sob)... that was the hardest part to do.

Discussion - Location & Shooting Style

Since some of you didn't notice the tiny little video bar below the chatbox (I know Joey didn't) so here are the videos and perhaps some format that we may adopt. Enjoy them.

Jackie (quoted from his blog) "nice location? im thinking at various locations around uni...can ah?? ehhehe..coz if its going to be something to remember..let it be our uni days...and with UTP as backdrop...that's the best location i think.."

What do you think?

Great news guys. Power Director can mute sounds from video. Now we can have one less thing to worry. No need to just sync lips. We can sing on actual shooting and don't have to worry about background noises. We can interlace our separate recorded singing later.

@ video editing team. If you have bit torrent, download PowerDirector 6.0 (there's version 7.0), so that we'll all be using the same version. Happy exploring!! Though I'm pretty sure you guys won't do that, isn't? *** poor teik is talking to himself again ***
Here's the link anyway PD 6.0

Clarifications

Hello friends,

1) We will ALL be in the video regardless of whichever team you are in.

2) Those who want to post here please let me know. I'll send invitation for you to be authors as well. Can someone tell how how to roll out categories? How to always make comments visible? As in no need to click on it to view. HELP!

Call for Unity - Exclusively for UTP July 04 Circle of Friends

Hi Friends of July 04 UTP Batch,

It's me, Teik Hui. Please read on.

Friends, we have almost come to the end of our journey in UTP. Starting next semester, we will embark on our final year (for those taking IT/IS, it will be their final sem!). Do you feel like we've missed out something? Where were the days of July 04 and our much beloved foundation years? Honestly, I long for the nostalgic days to come back - when we first knew each other, and we fooled and joked, we laughed and shared stories. And most importantly, we DID IT ALL TOGETHER AS A GROUP OF FRIENDS.

Over the years, we somehow got segregated and our band of brothers and sisters were broken into smaller groups. Days where we lepak together were too far and few in between in the recent years as we were all so busy with our own things (UTP is to be blamed somehow).

So Friends, if you feel like what I feel, It's time to UNITE. Please respond to what I intend to initiate. Let's take some time early in the next semester to do a video production to commemorate us as the UTP July 04 bunch of exciting comrades. I recently got inspired by the production of Malaysian Artistes For Unity (MAFU) which is made to promote unity among Malaysians. That video got me into thinking about all of US - through thick and thin we've arrived to where we are now. So let's embrace the theme of UNITY, and do one for ourselves. Below is what I have in mind:

1) We will sing 'Here In My Home' in acappella + choir style

2) It will be shot in a video mode at a location that will be confirmed later

3) We will wear our own designed T-shirt (with the theme unity) during the video shooting

The planning:

1) Reply this email ASAP so that I know if you guys are interested (I mean genuinely interested and must be fully passionate and be committed to it). Just reply yes or no. That will do.

2) Since this is a video shooting plus vocal and choir style, practice is required. But please don't be put off and start thinking you have FYP to do next sem, OK? for once..OK? We will make practice minimal by keeping it simple and sweet. Just spend some, off and on to practise for the singing and choreographing.

3) We will form a team for the production. They are as follow;

- I will assume the role of the production coordinator (if you guys let me)
- Choiring and Choreographing team
- T-shirt designing team
- Location team

4) If everyone is in, we can set up the team after we get everyone's reply. After which, we can start the actual preparation, especially the for T-shirt designing, and the choiring and choreographing team. Then perhaps we start a new temporary blog for easy updates and discussion.

5) For the rest who is not in any of the team, just lend your angelic voice, come for the practice, lend your support if asked, and join in the FUN. Doesn't matter if you sound bad or good. We are not auditioning for singing competition. We are doing this for ourselves. So let's do together gether..Ok?

6) If you are in, please go and watch the video, get some inspiration and engrave the lyrics to your heart (including the rap in BM, chinese, tamil and English!). Here's the link if you don't already know ---> http://www.malaysianartistesforunity.info

7) If this is a go, we shall start preparing now, and the practice will be expected to start in the first week onwards when we get back to UTP, and hopefully by the mid of August we can finish the video shooting before we get busy busy busy.

Okay this is so far the detail I wish enclose. Once again, I really hope we can do this. There's no hidden agenda. This is a non-profitable production. This is purely, exclusively for our circle of friends of July 04 batch. One day we can all look back and I'm very sure you'll be super duper glad that you've done this.

Alright, you guys decide now. YES or NO. I'll be waiting. If YES please indicate which team you want to be in or you just want to sing.

ps: Please forward this to our friends. I do not have everyone's email or I might have missed out unintentionally. If you are not sure whether you should include that person, please do not be hesitated to ask me.
